Familiar Foes and Road Tests Highlight Early Slate

The University of Nebraska volleyball team will open its 2024 season with a challenging slate of in-state battles, facing Creighton, Omaha, and Nebraska-Omaha in non-conference play.

The Huskers will host Creighton on August 26th, the first meeting between the two schools since 2019. A week later, Nebraska will travel to Omaha for a matchup with the Mavericks, a program that has won the Summit League Tournament the past two seasons.

The Huskers will then host Nebraska-Omaha on August 30th, the first meeting between the two schools since 2009.

Key Matchups and Players to Watch

  • Creighton: The Bluejays are coming off a 20-14 season and return All-Big East First Team selection Norah Sis.
  • Omaha: The Mavericks went 26-4 last season and won the Summit League Tournament. They return All-Summit League First Team selection Sadie Limback.
  • Nebraska-Omaha: The Mavericks went 19-12 last season and finished second in the Summit League. They return All-Summit League Second Team selection Katie Albers.

The Huskers are looking to build on their 25-7 record from last season, which included a run to the NCAA Regional Finals.

Quotes from the Coach

"We have a lot of respect for the programs at Creighton, Omaha, and Nebraska-Omaha," Cook said. "These are going to be three competitive matches that will be a lot of fun to play in."
